STRINGLESS FAVOURS

Owe me not a dime
So you don’t get me indebted
For the one who gave me life
Did so on a silver platter

Pay me not a strand of hair
For all I have within
Is the worlds for the taking
And is mine for the giving

Let me not take a pound of flesh
Like the merchant of venice
Who forgot about friendship
And demanded a ransom

What good is a favour
If it has a return ticket
How decent is favour
With strings attached

Rather, be like Oliver twist
And ask for more
Cos the more I give
The more fulfilled I become

But if you still insist
To be my debtor
Then pay me now
By asking for more.
